Budweiser Made In America Music Festival Day 2

Day 2 of M.I.A. packed just as much of a musical punch as the first.  All the acts that hit the stage brought their A game with them.  Turn UP!

Last but certainly not least Nine Inch Nails closed the festival out and blew the crowd away with their awesome performance.

Mira.

Barbados Carnival – Kadooment Day

Barbados’ Crop Over Festival has come to an end :-(.  But it did so with a bang.  That’s the nature of Grand Kadooment Day!  It’s their big finale, held annually on the first Monday in August.  Bad Gal RiRi of course was present and partying in true Bajan fashion.  Islanders do it best!  Look and see.

Senegalese Model Graces Vogue Netherlands Cover

Congratulations are in order for Kinee Diouf!  She is the first Black model to claim the cover of Vogue Nederland, coming in July.  This issue coincidentally or strategically debuts on the heels of their controversial May issue, which featured a Dutch model painted in blackface.  Some say it’s a subtle apology.  Possibly.  And given that most of Ms. Diouf’s pictures are from a distance instead of close-up, I may agree.  But controversy aside, she KILLED the shoot, done by esteemed photographer, Ishi.  The spread took place at  Paradis Plage Resort in Agadir, Morocco.  Vibrant scenery, prints and lipstick.  Caution: fierce flicks ahead!

Chinese New Year: Snake Love

新年好!  Google translate tells me that means Happy New Year in traditional Chinese.  Welcome to the Year of the Snake, said to bring much success to all those looking to study more and deliver on their promises.  Normally, I stay far, far away from anything snake-ish.  But between that prediction and looking at this artistry, I might…might come around to waving to one at a zoo.

21 – 2 Legends, 1 Day

Obama inauguration

Wooo Hooooo!  What a historical day to celebrate.  Today, January 21st, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, America’s president was sworn into his second term.  No matter how opinions differ, this day will be forever marked in history and these two men will be remembered for what they are: legends.  Congratulations, President Barack Obama.  And thank you Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for being one of many that battled, believed and triumphed.  They have motivated me and countless others in the world.  Take a look…
