Rarely is the Earth blessed with an individual that is fearless, altruistic and unshakeable. Even more rare are the chances of finding a person with such grand character to be 15 years of age. Malala Yousafzai, from Pakistan, is just that. Hungry for education and equal rights for women, she started an anonymous blog in 2009 for BBC chronicling life as a woman under Taliban rule, treated unfairly and being denied access to her school. Her identity was eventually revealed. As a result, a member of the Taliban attempted to assassinate Malala, shooting her twice on October 9, 2012. Thankfully, angels were protecting her and she has since recovered – even more driven to serve humanity. And just today, she was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. I know her fight is not for recognition but I still must say congratulations, Malala Yousafzai. You encourage me to be better.
